Over the last twenty years, demand for transport has increased considerably over regional and provincial infrastructures: for reasons of external borders, the strong rise of the population resident in the province. Growth over the years has abused a dispersive expansion, leading to the progressive saturation of the road network. It is time to escape from the immobility that has involved the mobility sector for too long, it is needed an alternative to the use of the private rubber vehicle, diffused in the Vicenza territory. The opportunity to overcome the situation is the realization of the AVAC Milan-Venice, which will involve the territory of Vicenza in the coming years, agreed definitively last January. In addition to the rooted presence of railway networks in its territory. High speed has been a topic that has long been discussed, due to various criticalities, but one in particular is the limited number of residents. The latter is precisely the input that led to the elaborate goal, how to increase the pool of potential users to make the new infrastructure an opportunity. The step-by-step process leads to the goal, in the first instance, the AVAC project’s work on the territory has been re-designed, as this will happen and difficulties and solutions have been chosen. A similar analysis of morphological, demographic and infrastructural features of the territory has been carried out. So the need to start from the Vicenza territory, learning the peculiarities of the infrastructure and settlement system, and then analyzing shifts in terms of numbers that are crucial to propose an ad hoc service. Finally, having reconfigured a detailed picture of the existing situation, a solution was proposed, a metropolitan urban suburban service in the province that could support the presence of AVAC in the territory and fulfill part of the tasks up to now left on the road network.

AY 2015-2016

Hendi Seyedeh Elaheh

An analysis of the relationship between travel behaviour and built environment. We proceed afterwards with the design of strategies and policies to tackle and improve these issues. The methodology used to identify the problems is, first one: the interpretation from a territorial point of view of a survey made by the Città Studi Sustainable Campus project in year 2015. This survey gathered information about the transportation modal choices, among Politecnico di Milano university population (n=9,763 students, n=2,185 staff members). The main tool used for this stage was Geographical Information System Software (GIS) that allow us to visualize and evaluate the travel behaviors. In particular, it was studied its relation with the accessibility to public transportation infrastructure and networks likewise the frequency of their journeys. We analyzed, in particular, the diffusion of originated trips directed to the most important campuses of Politecnico: Leonardo Citta Studi located in the east-central part of Milan and Bovisa located in the north-west border of Milan. Subsequently we proposed a variety of Transport Demand Policies (TDM) aiming the promotion of the public transportation instead of non-motorized mobility, shifting specifically the choice from the car (there are more than 80,000 journeys made by car in the academic year) promoting alternatives like train and regulate the use of cars with parking restrictions and carpooling programs. Finally we also perform calculations to figure out the estimated cost of (TDM) strategies implementation, considering different scenarios according to assumptions based in the state of art provided by the Città Studi Sustainable Campus project.

AY 2014-2015

Zakoyan Nona

City in motion. Everyone aims to save time and use the space efficiently. Thus, the challenges of infrastructure network and mobility issues arrive. Although technologies go forward, the City Structure and environment has to correspond to each coming era. Infrastructure organization and flows assessment are needed for more efficient city movement. Contemporary urban lifestyles and business practices are increasingly dependent on mobility. Hence, urban planners are facing the difficult dilemma in dealing with the tension between the essential role of mobility in enhancing cities’ welfare and well-being and the lack of sustainability of present urban mobility practices. The common problems that we face in mobility, nowadays, are vital-high traffic congestion, accidents and crashes, vehicle emissions and pollution, insecurity, inefficient transportation system, etc. In order to solve these kind of problems efficiently, a broad and multidisciplinary approach is needed. Along with digital-technological evolution and social, environmental demands the breakthrough concept and its path arrives-which is “Autonomous Vehicles which will enable efficient and sustainable Mobility in the City”. The vision and guide of this work will be-how to make SDVs (self-driving vehicles) or in this case-“Computer on wheels” work in the City? The innovation lies in making the vehicle more than just a way of movement but make it a personal computer in motion . Accordingly, new mobility system is being build along with different innovative technological tools deployment . The aim of the following study is to face the potential obstacles of the upcoming technology, analyze its benefits and impacts overall, and specifically on city design and infrastructure. The initial idea of “Self-Driving Vehicles” was born in the beginning of 20th century but has passed with a label of science fiction and, probably because of its incompatibility and inefficiency with the flowing era. In comparison, nowadays evolution and trends lead to the opportunity of SDVs solve and overcome global issues. Two of those are: the demographic growth and future increase of city urbanization, and environmental sustainability weakness due to high GHG emissions and pollution. Autonomous vehicles are going to reduce potential crashes up to 90% , significantly reduce the traffic capacity and parking as they support sharing and connected vehicles concept and as due to the studies below, they are going to be electric, thus, the pollution and emissions of gasoline and fuel are going to be dramatically cut down. In the following work are going to be considered the technological, urbanistic, environmental, economic and market issues. Thereby, the output of the research, first of all, will give a broad vision and understanding of how could be the potential path and scenarios of the evolution in mobility, how high potential advantages could have autonomous vehicles and how along with its built network will change the conventional city into more Mobile and Shared One.

AY 2012-2013

Ferro Martina

Trasporto, demografia e immobili. The first is a theoretical part: it outlines the history of the railways in Milan and suburban railways project; then it combines the study of literature, which analyzes similar intervention at the international level. The second part provides a description of the methodology used and the presentation of the results obtained. The analysis was carried out on four levels: the analysis of the plans with the help of planning tools, that has studied the relationship between the content of the plans and the new railway service. After that, it is verified, with the analysis of the new urbanized areas, if there is an effect of densification around the stations from the point of view of new constructions, by the detections of the use of soil carried by the Lombardy Region. The analysis of population data assessed the presence of variations of the municipal population and its trend of migration, based on ISTAT data bases. There are cities that have major problems, but them also offering opportunities in the future. The strong growth in the population, the poverty and the expansion of cities in developing countries are major problems that can`t be seen without the important role assumed by the transport infrastructure. The mobility has become a great challenge and a major hub for the planning and management of the Latin American cities. Especially for Bogota, the capital of Colombia, because the transport should be the city’s urban structuring. Therefore the mobility is an issue that requires study, innovation and constant exchange of information between the different actors involved. In this way it is possible to optimize resources, improve outcomes and provide better service through quality and affordable costs. All these topics are crucial for finding new sustainable alternatives for the city. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to assess the current situation with the mobility in Bogota, especially with the mass transport system – TransMilenio. This thesis makes an equality analysis, taking into account costs and benefits, and also if it is just and appropriate for a city with 8 million people, with sharp social contrasts. In addition, this analysis aims to prove in certain way that the Urban Transportation can be seen as a social inclusion element in a city as Bogota.

Bertolin Alberto

La riorganizzazione del trasporto pubblico locale e lo sviluppo insediativo. For this reason, Travel Demand Management (TDM) strategies like traffic calming, parking and congestion pricing are being implemented around the world in an attempt to change people’s travel behavior. Although environmental problems caused by private car usage, constitute serious threats to human health and well-being, congestion charging schemes generally unpopular with drivers. The most important and challenging factor for the successful implementation of congestion charges is the public and political acceptability because of the some issues like social norms, infringement on freedom, perceived effectiveness, and personal outcome expectations. Which kind of policies had been effective for the citizens’ acceptance? Is it possible to achieve public approval for congestion charging schemes and how? Is it necessary to have decisive political leadership in order to introduce a successful congestion-charging scheme like in London? Or in order to increase acceptability should the central strategy be to hold a referendum after a trial period like in Stockholm? Are Milan cases successful in terms of acceptability? In the thesis elements of the political and public acceptability of the congestion charging schemes are examined with the help of case studies. In addition, the acceptability of the Milan case in which road pricing was decided by a citizen referendum based on the experiences of other European cities, will be discussed. This paper argues that the Milan cases (both Ecopass and Area C) are significantly less acceptable than other cases in terms of social norms, equity and socio-economic factors. However, Milan’s experience demonstrates that it is possible to increase public acceptability by learning from past mistakes and by taking into account lessons from London and Stockholm.

The thesis/dissertation is the occasion for students to develop and apply research skills, examine in depth topics encountered during their studies and bridge the gap…

[38,1

post-587","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-menu","category-uncategorized
["GET
