2018. METROPOLITAN HUB SEGRATE – PORTA EST. Cost-Benefit Analysis

The project focused on the study of the various alternatives connecting the new metropolitan hub of Segrate “Westfield Milano” with the surrounding territory both in terms of infrastructure and services. In particular were evaluated, in the various scenarios, the opening of the road connecting between via Cassanese and via Rivoltana, the new Porta Est station, the reorganization of railway services and the different connection options between Milan Linate airport and Segrate.

TRASPOL has conducted for MM spa (planner), in coordination with META srl (modelers), the cost-benefit analysis of different infrastructural scenarios and service configuration.

The evaluation was carried out using the transport model developed by META srl, to estimate the effects on regional and long-distance users.

The results of the evaluations carried out have made it possible to highlight how, thanks to an evident network effect, all the alternatives have benefits that are superior to costs, both using the guidelines of the Lombardy Region and the Ministerial guidelines. Finally, in addition to the usual ACB indicators, cartographies of consumer surplus impacts and other transport indicators (modal shift, times and distances, etc.) have been produced.
