In summary, it is possible to highlight some figures for the first six months of analysis:

  1. In the first six months considered, the number of transactions on the website increased by more than 3.5 times. This indicates both a greater penetration of Checkmybus.it, and a general increase of the market. This growth took place in different ways between the areas of the country. Internal relations in the North and North – South routes increased more.
  2. Milan is the first city both as origin and destination, at the same time from Milan start 4 of the top 10 domestic routes in terms of researched tickets on Checkmybus.it
  3. Data on researched tickets show different levels of market concentration between types of relationships. The routes to the South are the most concentrated, while those from North to the rest of the country are those in which competition is higher.
  4. The price index calculated on the whole sample is 0,051 €/km in the first semester, with a clear reduction trend (it was 0.063 €/km in January). The long-distance coach services have a lower average price per km with respect to airport services or regional ones. New entrants have average prices below the historic companies, but there are cases in which the latter apply more competitive prices, in particular on services between 250 and 400 km.
  5. Overall, the researched tickets on Checkmybus.it are almost perfectly divided between Italian companies and foreign newcomers. However, in the domestic market the Italian companies still have an important role, with about 60% of the clicks.
