A più di un anno dalla liberalizzazione del trasporto su autobus di competenza statale, il mercato sta dando grandi segni di vitalità, con l’apertura di nuove rotte, l’entrata di operatori e l’affermarsi di nuove logiche commerciali e di marketing.
Questo rapporto, preparato in collaborazione con www.checkmybus.it, sarà il primo di una serie periodica di studi sull’andamento del mercato degli autobus di lunga percorrenza in Italia, che si propone come utile strumento di monitoraggio dell’evoluzione del settore, sia per le aziende che per il settore pubblico. Il rapporto è basato sul campione di prezzi raccolti dalla piattaforma di vendita e descrive il profilo degli utenti delle autolinee, i prezzi praticati, il livello di concentrazione del mercato, le rotte domestiche principali.

In breve, ecco alcuni dati relativi al primo semestre di analisi:
- nei primi sei mesi di analisi, il numero di transazioni registrate è aumentato di oltre 3,5 volte. Questo indica sia una maggiore penetrazione della piattaforma Checkmybus.it, che un generale aumento del mercato. Questa crescita è avvenuta in maniera differenziata tra le diverse aree del paese, con le relazioni interne al Sud e quelle tra Nord e Sud ad essere cresciute di più.
- Milano è la prima località di origine e destinazione, così come da Milano partono 4 delle prime 10 rotte nazionali per biglietti cercati su Checkmybus.it
- I dati sulle ricerche mostrano livelli di concentrazione del mercato differenziati tra tipologie di relazioni. Le rotte a Sud sono quelle più concentrate, mentre quelle da Nord verso tutto il paese sono quelle in cui la competizione è più accesa.
- L’indice dei prezzi calcolato su tutto il campione è di 0.051 €/km sul semestre, con una chiara tendenza alla riduzione (era 0,063 €/km a gennaio). Le autolinee di lunga percorrenza hanno un prezzo medio al km molto inferiore sia ai servizi aeroportuali che a quelli regionali. I nuovi entranti hanno prezzi mediamente inferiori alle aziende storiche, ma vi sono casi in cui queste ultime applicano prezzi più competitivi, in particolare nei servizi tra i 250 e 400 km.
- Complessivamente, i biglietti cercati su Checkmybus.it sono quasi perfettamente suddivisi tra aziende italiane e newcomer stranieri. Tuttavia, guardando al solo segmento delle rotte domestiche, le aziende italiane sono ancora prime, con circa il 60% dei click.

[:en]After more than a year since the liberalization of long distance coach services, the market is showing great signs of vitality, with the opening of new routes, the entry of operators and the emergence of new business logic and marketing.
This report, prepared in collaboration with www.checkmybus.it
, is the first of a regular series of studies on the market for long-distance coach service in Italy, it represents a useful tool to monitor changes in the industry, both for companies and for the public sector. The report is based on the sample of prices collected by the meta-engines platform and describes the profiles of the users of these services, the prices, the level of market concentration, the main domestic routes.

In summary, it is possible to highlight some figures for the first six months of analysis:
- In the first six months considered, the number of transactions on the website increased by more than 3.5 times. This indicates both a greater penetration of Checkmybus.it, and a general increase of the market. This growth took place in different ways between the areas of the country. Internal relations in the North and North – South routes increased more.
- Milan is the first city both as origin and destination, at the same time from Milan start 4 of the top 10 domestic routes in terms of researched tickets on Checkmybus.it
- Data on researched tickets show different levels of market concentration between types of relationships. The routes to the South are the most concentrated, while those from North to the rest of the country are those in which competition is higher.
- The price index calculated on the whole sample is 0,051 €/km in the first semester, with a clear reduction trend (it was 0.063 €/km in January). The long-distance coach services have a lower average price per km with respect to airport services or regional ones. New entrants have average prices below the historic companies, but there are cases in which the latter apply more competitive prices, in particular on services between 250 and 400 km.
- Overall, the researched tickets on Checkmybus.it are almost perfectly divided between Italian companies and foreign newcomers. However, in the domestic market the Italian companies still have an important role, with about 60% of the clicks.
